The National Association of Automobile Museums began an annual tradition of bestowing  a lifetime achievement award to worthy recipients in 2003.  The first recipients (in 2003) were Henry Ford and William F. Harrah.  William E. Swigart Jr. was the 2004 recipient of this prestigious award.

Since 2001 the Swigart Museum has received the following awards:
